No more waiting: Onna!'s registration is now open to the general
public! Onna! is an all-new convention focusing on women's roles in
animation and comics, whether 2-D heroines or 3-D innovators. It takes
the ideas behind Shoujocon and Yuricon, two separate conventions
focusing on women in anime and manga, and promotes them in a single
setting.
Attendees will be able to enjoy the unique perspective of our guests
and their experiences in the word of animanga and comics. Paige
Braddock, creator of "Jane's World", and Sin Comix, a New York based
artists' circle, have been announced, with hopefully more to come.
Onna! is open to everyone who is interested in anime, manga, and
comics with a positive female perspective. Our pre-event registration
is $35.00 until June 20, 2005--30% off our at-door price. Registration
is capped at 450 attendees to keep the con intimate, so reserve your
place soon! Hotel information and the registration form can be found at
our website: http://www.onnafest.com.
MASCOT CONTEST
Onna!, the new convention sponsored by Shoujo Arts Society and
Yurikon, LLC, is looking for their new mascot.
Our mascot will be featured in ads at other anime cons, and in our
program book. The theme of this con is the celebration of women's
roles in anime and manga, both as characters and as creators. The
mascot should be representative of that.
Interested artists should be prepared to submit their drawings in
electronic(this is preferred) or physical format(CD). Images should be
no larger than 800 x 600 and no smaller than 200x200, and in jpg, png,
or gif format. The due date for this contest is April 30th, 2005.
E-mail images or request for physical address to spacetart@gmail.com.
The winning entry will receive a small prize and exposure for their
art.
