(Inspired by the concepts of Quantum Leap, Sliders,
Star Trek’s The Captain’s Table series, and The Great
Crossover Crisis by Hung Nguyen….)
DARKSOAR PRESENTS
A SERIOUSLY WHACKED IDEA
“THE TROUBLESHOOTING TRIO”
Introduction
There are many different dimensions and alternate
realities that exist. In a blink of an eye, millions
are created, and just as quick, millions are
destroyed. Many of those that are created are mainly
the result of the phenomenon known as ‘branching’, or
in layman’s terms, several alternate dimensions being
formed off a main one. Most scientists involved with
the study of such temporal activity usually define
‘branching’ with asking the question, “What if?”
The same scientists who study this ‘branching’ have
recently, in the past decade, categorized a
observation under it. The origin of this new
proponent is, for the lack of a better term, the
collision of certain dimensions with each other. No
one knows why it happens, it has been theorized that
it happens by some incalculable quirk of the universe,
or perhaps by some joke of the gods. Now in such a
collision, the dimensions involved are usually
destroyed. However, there are rare instances when the
dimensions not only survive, but they merge with each
other. Temporal researchers, professors, scholars,
and fanfic writers quite affectionately call this rare
phenomenon a “crossover”.
In many of these crossovers, there is always one major
constant to each of them. This constant is the
existence of the planet Earth. Strangely, the factors
that cause the crossover itself are many and varied,
but a good deal can be pointed towards the small
nation known as Japan. Most of these crossovers
related to this country usually do not focus on a
precinct, or a town, or even a village, but do
concentrate on the individuals living in said places.
These people, girl or boy, man or woman, or sometimes
not fully human or even not human at all, have been
said to be 'touched’ by the hand of fate, marked by
the gods, destined for greatness, etc…. It has been
witnessed that these people live interesting and
hazardous lives, making them grow and change beyond
their expectations.
Three of these individuals, all of whom are remarkably
alike in one way or another, have been unknowingly
chosen to perform an important task, or rather, a
series of important tasks before they are allowed to
continue with their “normal” lives.
With that, the different realities which they
respectively live in draw close to each other closer
....closer...closer...ever so nearer.
They come into contact.
In a spectacular outburst of light and uncontainable,
limitless energy, a brand new reality is formed. The
three individuals are now in the same dimension. All
that remains now is for them to meet.
May the gods, or at least those who didn’t have a hand
in this, help them all.

Author’s Note:
I know, it’s very short, but it’s a kick off to
something I’ve been thinking about for some time now,
and I just wanted to give it the slightest nudge onto
the FFML to see how it would turn out. Chapter 1’s
coming out soon enough (‘bout a week or so, give or
take), and Crossing the Line (don’t worry) is not on
hold and is coming along pretty much on schedule.
