Apologies,
I would not bother the list, except that I am having trouble over a bit of
folklore. I have been unable to find much of anything out using google,
etc.
I am trying to polish an idea for a post-seisohen story.
During the shishio arc, Kenshin is forced to replace his broken sword with
a 'temple-blade' that was donated by the smith, the same one who made
his original sakabatou as sort of a practice piece.
Now, my understanding was that the temple in question was dedicated to
Inari no Kami.
Other than finding out shes the goddess of rice/life and that most kitsune
( especially white ones) are her servants, I have been unable to find out
much of anything. So I have been unable to determine if my idea would be
out of character for her.
My idea is that since he never actually offered any PAYMENT for the sword,
he has worked up a debt to the goddess.
Since rice is a labour-intensive crop, I was wondering if it would be
in-character for her to not be very generous. Also, that she might see him
going to an early grave as an attempt to welsh.
Could anyone direct/inform me on any folklore that would help me out?
