[FFML] [Info] New Fan Fic Idea and Annoucements

Hello, I'm new to this group, but I'm not new to writing fan fiction. I've done several and am working on several found at the links below in my signature.

Now, onto the topic of this post...

Most of the fanfics I write are Ranma 1/2 based. Many are usually crossovers with other anime, manga, and non-anime TV shows. I meditate on new ideas for these fics and come up with ideas for new stories. I have two that I need suggestions on.

Fan Fic Idea #1:
Proposed Title: Ranma Inverse
Genre: Action/Romance
Rating: NC-17
Summary:
Ranma is hospitalized after a severe injury caused during a fight with Mousse and Ryoga. In the hospital, Ranma begins to have dreams of people and places he has never seen before. After he gets out of the hospital Ranma has waking dreams of things he's never seen or experienced, of adventures, monters, and magic. These dreams become ingrained within him as memories, and Ranma's personality begins to change. He accepts his female form and wears women's clothes when goes female for a long time. He is harder to manipulate, as Nabiki and his iinazuke discover, and he does not put up with people as much as before. Akane and Cologne become concerned with Ranma's changing behavior and the two confront Ranma about it. He tells them about the dreams and how he can remember what happens in them after he has them. They take him to Dr. Tofu who uses hypnosis on him to see what is causing this and discover that these dreams are resurfacing memories from a past life...Ranma is the
reincarnation of Lina Inverse!
The beginning story arc will cover how the Nerima Wrecking Crew adjust to this new Ranma and his "re"-awakening magical prowess. Note: Ranma has to work to regain the magical power that Lina once used, the knowledge of how to use a spell isn't enough.
The second story arc introduces a secret society of cultists who worship the dark lord Zaggaroth. Lina Inverse died fighting defeating him at Josenkyo when the creature tried to destroy the Amazons. Lina is held in the highest reguard by the Amazons and thus as her reincarnation Ranma is elevated to a rather high status. The cultists are attempting to ressurrect their master so he can takeover the modern world. Cameo appearances by non-anime characters will appear in the fic from time to time to help the story along. The cultists are looking for artifacts they need for the ceremony to resurrect the creature.
The final story arc will be the race against time to stop the resurrection of Zaggaroth and the battle with his demon minions known as the Host. By this time Xellos and Naga will be a part of the cast. Naga was transformed into stone by Zaggaroth's followers years after the original battle and she was found centuries later decorating the yard at the Kuno mansion. Ranma and Cologne restore her to flesh using magic. Xellos isn't human so his presence in the future is understandable. Also, after being around for so long and having witnessed Lina's death he is a slightly changed mazuko.

Fan Fic Idea #2:
Proposed Title: Tendo Kikimo
Genre: Romance/Comedy
Rating: NC-17
Summary:
Tendo Soun's brother Tendo Akito and his wife Yuri die in a car accident and he takes in their 16 year old daughter Kikimo. Kikimo is beautiful, clinically a genius, as devious as Nabiki, and something of a sex fiend. She lost her virginity at 14, and is known at her old school as a girl who will put out on the first date. Upon arriving at Tendo-ke the sisters shower her with attention because of what happened with her parents. Her attitude changes when she sees Ranma, whom she thinks is very good looking, and when she learns about his curese she gets even more interested in him. Kikimo watches Ranma's life and how he's treated by Akane and the other girls. She is no saint herself, but Kikimo decides that such a nice and really "delicious" looking guy like him/her should never be treated that way. So, Tendo Kikimo set about to make Ranma hers. Nabiki notices a change in the girl's behavior around Ranma, she tells Akane, and now its a race between the two girls to win
over Ranma. This is because Kikimo is a Tendo also, and if she succeeeds in seducing him and sleeping with him he'll have to marry her.

You misspelled "fiancee". Just thought I'd let you know.

First of all, equating Ranma and Lina has been done many, many times in
fanfiction. This doesn't mean that your story can't be good, but it is one
strike against it, and it does mean you might want to reconsider whether a
fresher premise might not serve just as well for the story you are trying to
tell.

As for your idea itself, it really depends on how you handle it. If you focus on
Ranma's struggle to remain himself and not let this other personality wipe out
who he is, that could be good. If you just let Lina take him over completely
and spend the story with her blasting all of the Nerima characters you don't
like, then, well, I for one will look for something else to read. The point is
that there has to be some sort of internal conflict for the main character,
something that he is motivated to struggle with on more than just a purely
physical level and has to grow as a character in order to overcome.

First suggestion: use a different name. Though Soun's late wife's name was never
given in the manga, "Kimiko" is assigned to her in more fanfics than not, and
the reader of your fic is bound to have seen this.

Well, besides what I wrote above about your story needing internal conflict, I'd
say that Kimmy (or whatever you change her name to, if you do) needs some
sort of weakness. That she's beautiful, that she's capable of fulfilling the
marriage contract, and that she actually feels compassion towards Ranma are all
reasons for her to succeed. She needs some reason why she might fail. This
could be as simple as Ranma simply not being interested in her, or her being so
aggressive in her pursuit that he's put off and she doesn't understand why. As
is, it seems like the deck is stacked in favor of this new character (who, as
Hiroshi and Daisuke remind me to say, is also stacked). This is a recipe for
"Annoying New Character." If your character succeeds too easily (and
*especially* if your plan is for her to win out in the end, which I wouldn't
recommend), then your story will lack suspense because it will be clear that
you as author are driving it to a particular outcome.

Zelgadis seems like he might be able to still be kicking around then beind
one-third burou demon and one-third golem. Rezo afterall lived a rather
long time until the piece of Shabranigdu inside his eyes was unsealed.
Would make an interesting ironic commentary about how Rezo's transformation
has allowed him to live so long and his quest for a cure has caused him to
develop his power to highs he normally wouldn't have. Thus is a way Rezo
was actually looking out for him and making a sort of succesor, ne? Might
be better to have him do the stone to flesh spell. Then proceed to make
some comment about how it can't cure him just like Rezo could cure others
blindness but not his own.

Filia and Valgaav should still be alive due to being dragons. Of course,
they might not end up participating. One wonders how many children and
descendants they'd have by then. The breaking of the seal in TRY could
explain the pretty much nonexistence of magic by modern times. The outside
world's magic was pretty weak afterall.

Lina should probably have some mental distress about Gourry being dead, and
all the opportunities she's missed for fine food, treasure, and better
spells in however long it has been. Celebration at not having to worry
about her sisters tyrannical rule might be in order. Luna has purple hair
by the way when we see it in anime, don't do the usual mess up and make it
red.

Who is Zaggaroth? You need to have that figured out I'd say. If Chaotic
Blue or Death Fog was trying to pull a Dark Star that would be one thing,
this seems to be another. I don't think Xellos would help to stop a piece
of Shabranigdu from being resurrected or something like that and betray the
Mazoku race. So are we talking yet another Mazoku lord perhaps one of
Chaotic Blue's or Death Fog's trying to invade and do the Mazoku destroy
thing, which Xellos as we know from TRY would oppose? Or maybe he's
something like the Demon Beast Zaniffir that was defeated by the Sword of
Light so long ago.

Remember Lina has fought Martial Artists before in Slayers NEXT, remember
the two Shampoo look alikes and the outfits with the singing material, so
they aren't alien to her by any means and she's far from a weakling in HtH
herself. Then there's Phil with his Pacifist Fist so don't do go acting
like the Ranma crew capabilities are that new or particularly impressive to
much.

Bomb di Wind and Dill Brand would pretty much make Ranma's Hiryu moves
utterly worthless. Flame, Flare, and Freeze arrow, not to mention Fireball
and Ice bullets (Naga at least knows that one, it cancels out with fireball.
From Slayers Special manga.), would be vastly more useful then the wimpy, by
comparison, Moko Takabisha. Remember Windy Shield and both Raywing and
Levitation are also in her arsenal of spells. Mono volt could be a rather
nasty surprise and isn't that high level.

Well on the positive side she wouldn't get the Dragon Spooker, Enemy of all
who live... Fireball! Undeserved list of titles that were so unjustly
attached to her.

There isn't much I can add to the comments already made on this count,
but here's my thoughts:

Learn from the mistakes of others. If you use the Slayers crossover as
an excuse to "solve" Ranma's problems with fiancee's and the like,
you're going to create a very poorly done angstfic. (blech!) Also, keep
in mind that Ranma is already stupidly powerful as it is. Does he/she
*really* need magic to complete his/her repertoire? Further, (taking a
tack from D&D here) is Ranma *smart* enough to handle the magic? Ranma
has never shown anything other than average level intelligence (except
in a rare few fanfics), would his mind be capable of processing the
spells? Or, is there a latant talent/intelligence that Ranma's training
under his father has been stifled? Don't make this too easy for Ranma,
or it will be a boring fic.

That said, what you have presented as an idea certainly seems better
than other attempts at the Slayers/Ranma crossover concept. Even Robert
Haynie (of "Girl Days" fame) couldn't develop something that captured
even his own continued interest. Good luck, it's worth a try.

This sounds a lot like "The Things We Wish For..." If you haven't read
it, here's a synopsis: Akane makes a hastily worded wish that results
in her mother being "resurrected," only nearly a decade too young.
Young Mrs. Tendo (I believe called Kimiko in this one) is instantly
attracted to Ranma and has a very similar personality to the girl you
propose as a main character. TTWWF suffered from the drag of trying to
introduce a new MAJOR character into an already tightly woven group and
not succeeding too well. Good writing, especially the flashback, but
ultimately a dull story. Honestly, this idea seems to be headed in the
same direction. Focus on your first idea.
