There's two fanfic authors I've found that do VERY good and avoid
self insertion. You're one, and Slayer's the other with his
AMG/EVA/Hellsing/SMJ crossovers B)

I read Slayer's last chapter for his, and found you had finished
this one, same night.

Mmm ..I'm going to go buy a lottery ticket. Tonight's been VERY
lucky for me B)

(You might not like one of the stories I have in very-early planning,
though, it being something of a self-insert and all. I'll be sure to
mark it clearly if/when it's written...)

I've got no inherent problem with self-inserts. All too often,
however, they're Mary Sues.
