Yuricon Named one of Animefringe.com's Top 25 Websites
Yuricon.org, a website dedicated to celebrating, creating
and disseminating information about lesbians in Japanese
animation and comics is making a splash on the Internet.
Founded in 2000 with the mission of drawing yuri fans around the
world
together,
Yuricon held a three-day convention in Newark, NJ in 2003. 2003
also saw
the creation
of a publishing arm, ALC Publishing, to translate and create
high-quality
Japanese comics with
lesbian content.
In the first week of 2004, Yuricon.org was named one of the Top
25
anime-related
websites by the Animefringe.com organization, determined by user
poll.
Yuricon has the honor of being the first and only
convention-related
website to ever be so named.
Yuricon is planning a variety of events in 2004 at anime
conventions and
film festivals, as well as book-release parties, and a
mini-convention
and tour in Tokyo 2005. 2004 will also see the release
of three new original yuri publications from ALC Publishing.
