Wasn't the Hawaii (and thus the pineapple) obsession a later development?

I think he was called Takeshi in Susan Doenime's Pastpresent, if that helps.

OTOH, I recall reading fanfics where he was named "Koneko" (yes,
"kitten") or "Principal" (which influenced which career he'd later
follow). There's no canon given name for either of the adult Kunos,
IIRC.

I think Paulette was a more fun idea, and it seems to fit the Kuno
family fairly well (we only see 3, and they're all nuts)...

Also, Paulette (in Grayson Towler's Relentless) and Godai in the Altered
Destinies series.

I would pick a name that goes with the theme of the Kuno children's
names -- "Tatewaki" and "Kodachi" are (I think) types of swords; perhaps
Kuno Sr.'s name is also some type of weapon?

Hmm... trying to look up the names in a online jp/en dictionary shows as
a meaning for "kodachi", "grove of trees," and doesn't have anything for
"tatewaki".

The type of swords Aoshi uses in Rurouni Kenshin are called Kodachi (lit.
small sword). Waki is one of the readings of the kanji for sword, but I
have no idea what the rest could mean.

As I remember it the characters used for Tatewaki can be read as "brings a
sword," which of course Kuno inevitably does.
